Aldolase, also known as fructose-bisphosphate aldolase, is an enzyme catalyzing a reaction, which is reversible, that splits the aldol, fructose 1,6-bisphosphate, into the triose phosphates dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) and glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate.
